Beach Flags

Green: Low hazard
Please be aware that a Green flag does not guarantee you safety. Rip currents can occur
even on calm days, as Gulf undercurrents breakopen subsurface sandbars, causing
tidal currents to move out to sea. If you cannot swim, stay close to shore in water below your knees.
Keep small children in shallow water. Use the buddy system.
|

Yellow: Medium hazard
Moderate surf and/or currents.
|

Red: High hazard
Rough conditions, strong surf and/or currents. Should you enter the water despite of the red flag warning,
a lifeguard may not be able to save you.
|

Red over Red: Water closed to the public.
Drownings are likely. Beaches closed to swimming. Rip currents or other hazardous situations exist. Should you enter the water despite of the double red flag warning,
a lifeguard may not be able to save you.
Purple: Marine pests present.
